Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Directing Traffic: Control vehicle and pedestrian flow using stop/slow paddles, hand signals, or illuminated wands
Site Safety: Monitor work zones to protect construction crews, the public, and yourself while enforcing speed limits and safety protocols.
Communication: Coordinate lane closures and moving hazards with crew members and other flaggers via two-way radios.
Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain traffic cones, warning signs, and barriers to ensure compliance with standards.
Emergency Response: Adjust traffic patterns quickly to route motorists away from sudden road hazards or accidents.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
Certification: Must possess a valid Washington State Traffic Control Flagger Card (obtained through an approved training program).
Licenses: Valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable transportation.Additional Cards: Many local county or private jobs require a valid First Aid and CPR card within a short period of hire.
Physical Demands: Ability to stand outside for long hours in all weather conditions, remain alert, and lift up to 40 pounds.
