Maintenance Technician

Position Summary: Involves equipment disassembly and setups, operating a press during
production runs, troubleshooting and repairing equipment and performing preventative
maintenance and routine service on equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Able to multi-task and solve practical problems while under pressure to meet a
deadline.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and repair PLC systems, electrical systems, and mechanical
issues.
• Able/willing to learn welding skills, basic machining skills, and pneumatic and
hydraulic power systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in the facility.
• Complete work orders as needed.
• Operate a wide variety of hand and power tools.
• Work on the production line and operate the hydraulic hot press.
• Dissemble and reassemble production equipment/line at end of production run for
cleaning.  
• Perform various cleaning duties.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during
production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment
during machine services.
• Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and
controls, equipment, and working conditions in the facility.
• Must report any food safety concerns to appropriate personnel with authority to
initiate action to the concern.
• Understand and follow all established safety procedures and use required PPE
equipment to reduce/prevent injury to self and others.
• Successfully complete OSHA training and maintains/complies with OSHA
regulations affecting operations. Successfully complete additional safety training
including Emergency Action Plan, LOTO, Hazard Communication, and Ergonomics.
• Successfully complete the required SQF/Food Safety training annually and other
training specific to this job.

Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed indoors with routine exposure to noise,
temperature variance, solvents, and equipment. Deadline pressure is an integral part of
the job. Work hours are generally 9–12-hour shifts and average 40 hours a week, with
reasonable expectation of overtime.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of
those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of
this job. This position is very active and requires alternating walking, sitting, and standing
for most of the workday. Stooping, climbing, kneeling, turning, and twisting on a regular
basis are required. Lift and carry up to 100lbs on occasion. There is regular use of hand and
power tools. Requires the ability to receive detailed information through verbal
communication.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous
equipment maintenance experience is desirable. Individual must possess the ability to
operate a wide variety of hand and power tools, adapt to change in priorities daily, good
verbal communication skills, interpret technical data/information, manage time
effectively, self-motivation skills, pay attention to detail, and work with tight deadlines.
Must be able to perform basic math.
