Job Overview: 


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for engineering commercial projects utilizing cold-formed steel and translating them into our FrameCAD system. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in structural design and evaluation, ensuring all projects comply with safety codes and industry standards. Training will be provided for learning the FrameCAD technology and software, so prior experience in this area is not required.

Key Responsibilities: 


  • Design Review and Approval 
  • Oversee the review and approval of structural designs for commercial projects, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and codes. 
  • Ensure that all design work meets industry and regulatory standards and addresses any design discrepancies. 
  • Project Management 
  • Monitor project progress, timelines, and budgets to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including production, design, and construction) to keep projects on track and resolve any issues promptly. 
  • Technical Documentation and Calculations 
  • Review and approve project plans, calculations, and design documents for accuracy and compliance with engineering principles and industry standards. 
  • Ensure all design documentation is properly organized and accessible for team members and stakeholders. 
  • Risk Management 
  • Identify potential risks or challenges related to structural design and construction and proactively develop solutions to mitigate those risks. 
  • Implement strategies for continuous improvement of processes to increase efficiency and productivity. 
  • Manufacturing Process Improvement 
  • Evaluate and optimize light-gauge, cold-formed manufacturing processes by conducting research programs and applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. 
  • Work closely with equipment vendors and operators to identify improvement areas in manufacturing processes. 
  • Collaboration with Production Team 
  • Partner with the production team to enhance manufacturing and design processes. 
  • Study product requirements, design and test manufacturing methods, and collaborate with contractors to refine design and production methodologies. 
  • Training and Development 
  • Mentor and guide technicians in the design and development process, ensuring their growth and competency in structural engineering tasks. 
  • Provide ongoing training and support to team members on new technologies, materials, and design processes. 
  • Continuous Learning 
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing relevant publications, participating in professional societies, and establishing a network within the industry. 
  • Stay up to date with advancements in cold-formed steel design, construction methodologies, and engineering software (specifically FrameCAD). 
  • Team Contribution 
  • Contribute to team efforts and organizational goals by accomplishing related results and providing innovative solutions to structural engineering challenges. 

 


Qualifications: 


  • Education: Bachelor's degree  
  • Licensing: Professional Structural Engineer license (PE) is required. 
  • Experience
  • Proven experience in structural design and engineering, with a strong understanding of commercial building projects. 
  • Experience with cold-formed steel framing design is preferred, though not required. 
  • Knowledge of CAD programs (such as AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) is required. 
  • Experience in the design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, wood, and precast concrete is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with FrameCAD technology is a plus but not mandatory (training will be provided). 
  • Skills
  • Strong communicationpresentation, and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders. 
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities to evaluate complex design issues and propose effective solutions. 
  • Superior organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively and manage competing demands while ensuring high-quality output.
