Production Manager – Cold-Form Steel Process 


Salary: $65,000 - $85,000/year

Location: Grand Forks, ND 

 

Job Overview: 


We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Production Manager to oversee and lead the cold-form steel process, including the manufacturing, panel assembly, and delivery to project sites. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving operational efficiency, ensuring quality control, maintaining safety compliance, and leading a high-performance team to meet project deadlines. 


Key Responsibilities: 


Leadership 

  • Lead, mentor, and manage teams in various phases of cold-form steel production, assembly, and delivery. 
  • Ensure a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the entire production process. 
  • Inspire and motivate the team to achieve operational goals and maintain high levels of engagement. 

Process Management 

  • Develop, implement, and optimize efficient production processes to improve overall operational performance. 
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle from manufacturing to assembly and delivery, ensuring processes are streamlined and cost-effective. 
  • Implement best practices for inventory management and resource allocation. 

Performance Management 

  • Set performance metrics and monitor production goals, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery. 
  • Regularly assess the team's performance and provide constructive feedback, coaching, and development opportunities. 
  • Identify and address performance gaps, implementing solutions to optimize individual and team productivity. 

Financial Management 

  • Manage production budgets and track financial performance against targets. 
  • Work closely with leadership to ensure that projects remain within budget and identify cost-saving opportunities. 
  • Perform financial analysis to optimize resource utilization and reduce operational costs. 

Strategic Planning 

  • Collaborate with upper management to align production objectives with company strategy. 
  • Plan production schedules and forecast resource needs to meet project deadlines. 
  • Ensure that production operations are adaptable and scalable to changing project requirements. 

Safety Compliance 

  • Uphold and enforce safety regulations, ensuring the team complies with OSHA and other regulatory standards. 
  • Conduct regular safety audits and lead safety meetings to promote a safe working environment. 
  • Drive initiatives to prevent workplace accidents and continuously improve safety protocols. 

Quality Assurance 

  • Ensure that all products meet or exceed company quality standards and customer expectations. 
  • Implement robust quality control processes throughout the production line. 
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively. 

Communication 

  • Act as the primary point of contact between production teams, project managers, and external stakeholders. 
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership regarding production progress, challenges, and solutions. 
  • Foster open communication between teams to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables. 

Problem Solving 

  • Proactively identify operational challenges and implement solutions to mitigate production delays or quality issues. 
  • Troubleshoot technical or logistical problems that arise during production or delivery, ensuring quick resolution. 

Training & Development 

  • Develop and lead training programs to enhance team skills, ensuring all employees are well-equipped to handle production tasks. 
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the production team. 

 Collaboration 

  • Work closely with other departments (engineering, logistics, project management, etc.) to ensure alignment and smooth coordination across the entire project lifecycle. 
  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors as needed to ensure timely delivery and quality standards. 

 


Qualifications: 


Education:  

  • Bachelor's degree, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred. 

Experience

  • Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing or construction environment, ideally in a production management role. 
  • Strong understanding of cold-form steel processes, manufacturing principles, and construction methodologies. 

Skills & Expertise

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage teams effectively. 
  • Proficiency in strategic planning, financial analysis, and performance management. 
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in industrial and manufacturing environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement operational changes effectively. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and production management tools (e.g., ERP, MRP, etc.). 
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
