Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking Oyster Shucker to join our culinary team in a high-end dining environment. This role is responsible for expertly shucking oysters to ensure exceptional presentation and quality while maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen operation. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and understands the importance of attention to detail and food safety.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Oyster Shucking
Safely and efficiently shuck oysters while maintaining product integrity and presentation standards.
Inspect oysters for freshness and quality before serving.
Prepare oyster platters according to restaurant specifications.
Maintain clean and organized oyster preparation stations.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and seafood handling procedures.
Operate commercial dishwashing equipment and maintain cleanliness of all cookware, utensils, dishes, and glassware.
Keep kitchen floors, work areas, and storage areas clean and sanitary.
Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation and stocking duties as needed.
Remove trash and recycling throughout shifts.
Support chefs and kitchen team members to ensure smooth service operations.
Qualifications
Previous oyster shucking experience preferred but willing to train motivated candidates.
Prior restaurant, seafood, or dishwashing experience is a plus.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Strong attention to cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable working in wet, cold, or fast-paced kitchen environments.
Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the shift.
Manual dexterity required for oyster shucking and handling kitchen equipment.
