Job Description
Door Fabrication Technician is responsible for the set-up, operation, and basic maintenance of Fabrication Department equipment and machinery including quality checks, safety operating equipment, reading and interpreting product engineering drawings, programming basic logic systems, and daily area clean-up
Essential Job Functions
Calibrate, set-up, tend, operate and maintain assigned equipment and machinery in the Fabrication Department
Read, interpret and implement engineering drawings, PLC settings and production schedules and confer with department management on deviations
Take corrective action to prevent unacceptable defects and material loss
May require the use of gauges, templates, feelers, shims, hand tools, calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and related tools
Support and follow safety, 6S, Lean, Kaizen, and Lockout/Tagout procedures
Inspect materials, products, and equipment for defects; take corrective action to ensure quality and compliance with customer specifications
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements, including overtime if required
Performs other work as directed and required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
Knowledge of a variety of metal fabrication manufacturing equipment
Knowledge of LEAN principles and inventory management best practices
Knowledge of industrial painting processes, including electrostatic and manual applications
Skill in the use of forklifts, tuggers, manual pallet jacks, and lift tables
Skill in the use of measuring devices including tape measures
Skill in the operation of basic hand tools and power tools
Skill in sorting materials or objects for processing or transport
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with coworkers and customers
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns
Requirements
Required
Three (3) or more months of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred
Two (2) or more years of professional experience as a fabrication machine operator in a manufacturing environment or similar position
One (1) or more years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
Completion of LEAN, 6S, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma training
Must go through interview process, pass background check, and pass drug test.
